Novolipetsk Steel is a global industrial giant, one of the largest and most modern steel producers in the world. Located in Lipetsk, it is the flagship of the Russian ferrous metallurgy and the main asset of NLMK Group. The company represents a complete metallurgical cycle — from the preparation of raw materials (iron ore and coal) to the production of high-tech finished products.

The combine is one of the top 5 most profitable and efficient steel companies in the world. Its production capacity exceeds 17 million tons of steel per year. The value lies in the unique ability to produce huge volumes of metal at minimal cost, which ensures the highest competitiveness in the global market.
The plant has almost completely switched to a modern converter method of steel smelting and continuous casting. Its key value is high—quality products with added value: thin-sheet rolled products with coatings (galvanizing, polymer coatings), electrical steels for energy and transformers, which replace imports.
Despite its scale, NLMK is conducting large-scale environmental modernization, investing billions in gas purification and emission reduction. This is changing the paradigm from a «polluting factory» to modern high-tech and responsible production.

Lipetsk TPP-2.
A large thermal power plant, which is the main source of electricity and heat for NLMK and part of the city.
He works as a member of NLMK PJSC. Its electrical capacity is about 360 MW, and its thermal capacity is over 1000 Gcal/h.
CHP-2 is the «heart» of the plant’s energy system. It generates electricity to power NLMK’s most powerful electric furnaces, rolling mills, and other equipment.

220 kV substation «Metallurgicheskaya».
The main distribution node for NLMK’s direct power supply. The electricity generated at the CHPP is directly supplied to the Metallurgicheskaya substation. From this substation, electricity is distributed to NLMK’s numerous in-house substations at lower voltages (110, 35, 10 kV) to specific workshops and installations.

220 kV substation «Severnaya».
A system substation of the Federal grid company (FGC UES or IDGC). It is a key node of the external energy system for the entire Lipetsk region. The Severnaya substation is connected by 220 kV high-voltage power transmission lines to both the Metallurgicheskaya substation and the CHP-2. This creates a ring circuit that increases reliability. In the event of a shutdown or shortage of power at CHPP-2, NLMK can receive electricity from the All-Russian Energy system (UES of Russia) through the Severnaya substation. When CHP-2 generates more electricity than the plant needs, the excess can be transferred to the general grid through the Severnaya substation. Severnaya also provides electricity to the northern districts of the city of Lipetsk.

As part of the project, we have completed:
— Construction and installation works at 220kV Metallurgicheskaya substation, 220 kV Severnaya substation, Lipetsk TPP-2;
— Poland, RZA, UPASK;
— NDP circuits of secondary switching devices of RPA, UPASK, PN HF paths (PVZU-E, FP, KS, VCHZ);
— NDP disconnectors, OBR, PR assemblies on 220 kV Metallurgical substation;
— Integration of new RPA devices into the 220 kV Severnaya automated control system;
— Integration of new signals on the 220 kV Metallurgicheskaya substation into the SSPI;
— Development of cost estimates in terms of NDT.
