PJSC Kazanorgsintez (KOS) is one of the largest and strategically important petrochemical enterprises in Russia, located in Tatarstan. The company, part of the TAIF Group, is a leading domestic producer of polyethylene, polycarbonate, phenol and acetone. It is the only Russian manufacturer of polycarbonates, savilene, and metallocene polyethylene, which are high–strength plastics, as well as one of the country’s largest manufacturers of high- and low-density polyethylene. It is part of the SIBUR Group. Its products, manufactured under the KOS trademark, serve as raw materials for thousands of end products, from packaging, pipes, and automotive parts to medical equipment and electronics.
Kazanorgsintez provides import substitution of critically important polymers. It generates a significant part of tax revenues to the budget of Tatarstan and provides thousands of highly qualified jobs. The company’s strategy is aimed at deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials, which increases added value and corresponds to the global trend in the development of petrochemicals.
The key news of recent years, radically changing the environmental and economic profile of the enterprise, was the launch of the Lushnikovskaya combined-cycle gas plant (CCGT). This large-scale infrastructure project, implemented jointly with Tatenergo, replaced outdated coal-fired power plants with a modern highly efficient 495 MW power plant. The CCGT capacity is 250 MW.
Lushnikovskaya PSU solves two fundamental tasks. First, it provides Kazanorgsintez uses its own, reliable and cheaper electricity and steam, which significantly reduces the cost of basic products and increases competitiveness. Secondly, the project has a pronounced environmental effect: particulate matter emissions have been reduced hundreds of times, and emissions of nitrogen and sulfur oxides have increased significantly. This corresponds to both the corporate policy of KOS and the national goals in the field of «green» transformation of industry.
Our specialists have carried out the following works:
— Commissioning of the Siemens SGen5 generator,
— Adjustment of the excitation system cabinets, the SGen5 oscillator synchronization system based on the Siprotec 5 protection terminal, the Thyripol excitation system with the Sinamics GL150 frequency converter,
— Setup of UPS SV systems,
— Setting up RPA devices,
We also provided technical support to the Customer’s specialists, checked the final commissioning test reports: turbogenerators, a 10 kV current transformer, a 10 kV voltage transformer, and an excitation transformer. Recommendations were issued after the completion of the NDT.
Thus, the modernization of the energy complex through the construction of the Lushnikovskaya CCGT has become a driver of sustainable development for Kazanorgsintez, laying the foundation for future production growth and minimizing its impact on the environment.
