Reconstruction of transformer substations

Physical and moral deterioration of transformer substations and an increase in electrical capacities, an increase in the number of consumers are the main reasons why electrical equipment should be updated.
Many operating transformer substations operate at the limit of their capacities. To avoid potential problems with electricity, substations should be reconstructed and equipped with additional capacities, this is often achievable by replacing obsolete equipment with modern ones as part of the substation modernization.
In most cases, it is more profitable to reconstruct an old substation than to install a new one. The construction of a new substation means additional costs for a piece of land, construction work and other incidental costs.
How often and when should substation equipment be upgraded? Equipment should be replaced if existing equipment has reached the end of its useful life or if it cannot:
- provide additional necessary load,
- supply the required amount of electricity.
Reconstruction of transformer substations
The reconstruction of the transformer substation will increase the capacity of the transformer substation, increase the efficiency and reliability of the equipment, and will also allow:
- introduce new technologies and equipment,
- connect new customers,
- reduce the cost of electrical equipment,
- ensure the growing demand for electricity and its high-quality accounting.
The reconstructed TP must fully comply with the requirements for such facilities.
How is the modernization of the TP going?
Reconstruction includes several stages:
- preparation — at this stage, technical conditions or design assignments, permits are obtained and suitable equipment is selected;
- design work — a reconstruction project and an explanatory note are being developed, the project is being coordinated with the supervisory authorities;
- detailed design — working drawings are developed, according to which equipment is purchased, construction and commissioning are carried out;
- Installation, commissioning and commissioning.
Electrical installation work that is necessary for the reconstruction of a transformer substation should be entrusted only to organizations with appropriate certification.
Often the existing construction situation does not meet the necessary safety and efficiency requirements, therefore, when upgrading the substation, construction and repair work may be required to reconstruct the substation building. A properly selected company will design and perform all installation and construction work and hand over the facility in the appropriate order.
