As part of the title «Modernization of public address systems and communication channels in the network next to the Rostov NPP», we have started commissioning several facilities: 500 kV Volga substation, 500 kV Yuzhnaya substation, 500 kV Frolovskaya substation, 220 kV Zalivskaya substation, 220 kV Kotelnikovo substation, 220 kV Gumrak substation.
Today we will be reporting on the 220 kV Zalivskaya substation and the 220 kV Kotelnikovo substation.
The main scope of works includes: Installation of all necessary cable products, additional equipment and materials (relays, automatic machines, etc.), modifications to the secondary circuits of the existing equipment.
For comparison: in the Volgograd region, the reconstruction of 134 km of the Volga-Zalivskaya 220 kV —transit power line was completed. As part of an investment project worth 4.2 billion roubles, Rosseti FGC UES built a new substation next to the existing power line and modernized the Zalivskaya substation. The old line is currently being dismantled.
During the construction of power lines, more than 680 multi—faceted steel supports of a new generation were installed — the structures are characterized by high strength, increased wind and ice load resistance. The elements of the supports are protected against corrosion by hot-dip galvanizing. Modern protection devices were installed on the line — over 1.7 thousand surge arresters. In addition, the new transmission line is equipped with a fiber optic cable. The development of digital communication systems makes it possible to ensure remote monitoring of energy systems. This increases the response time in the event of grid deviations and fault rectification. The implementation of the project has made it possible to increase the reliability of the power grid in the region and improve the quality of electricity transportation to the south of the Russian Federation.
The 220 kV Zalivskaya substation with a capacity of 132 MVA was commissioned in 1975. The power plant is the main power supply center of the Oktyabrsky district in the Volgograd region, which is home to around 24 thousand people.

The 220 kV Kotelnikovo substation with a capacity of 176 MVA was commissioned in 1956. The substation is the main feed-in center of the Kotelnikovo district of the Zalivskaya Kotelnikovo 
district of the Volgograd region with more than 36 thousand inhabitants.
